SERIES ONE: LE MAISON D’ARRÊT
The Haunting Of Hill House meets Taboo. A gothic horror story set in the 21st Century London of Canary Wharf and the Shard but steeped in the Victorian East-End of Bill
Sykes and Jack Ripper.
Le Maison D’arrêt, is a brand new, five-star, boutique luxury hotel in Limehouse, East London 15 minutes from the Stock Exchange, the Bank of England and London City Airport.
The unique selling point of Le Maison D’arrêt is that it is situated in a converted Victorian prison and all the rooms are converted cells that you enter from the metal stairs and galleries of the old prison hall.
The Limehouse Penitentiary And House Of Correction had been opened in 1827 and was used as a prison until 1998. It was known across the prison system as the “Limehouse Hole” and had a fearsome reputation for brutality and cruelty.
Now in 2019, it’s going to be a home from home for the rich and the powerful, the great and the good, the famous and the celebrated; As such the building has been beautifully refurbished to the highest standards and includes a restaurant, bars, pool, gym, spa and private gardens.
But it isn’t long before both the staff and the guests of Le Maison D’arrêt come to realise that they are being haunted by the building’s brutal past; in Le Maison D’arrêt issues of innocence and guilt, revenge and redemption, crime and punishment are never far from the surface.
